65 Roses

Every year I try to donate one or more pieces of art to a fundraiser here in town.  Billie Colson, a local artist and owner of Independence Gallery has a fundraiser every year for Cystic Fibrosis.  It started when her grandchild was diagnosed with the disease.  When kids try to say Cystic Fibrosis it comes out as "65 Roses".  So she requests artists to donate painted roses by the end of January and has a gala event with a silent auction to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  This years event is on Feb. 12th at the Rialto Theater Center from 6-9pm and cost $35.00 per ticket.  Every item that doesn't sell that night is displayed in her gallery for purchase through the month of February.  100% of sales benefits the Cystic Fibrosis foundation

For my donation, I tangled 3 different roses and mounted them on painted 5x5 canvas

DIVA Challenge 202 Duo Tangle: Chebucto vs. Copada

I love the duo tangle challenges, and this time it is two of Margaret Bremner's tangle patterns! I have used Copada several times before, but Chebucto was new to me.  I started this tile without a string and drew Chebucto first and Copada just kind of jumped on for the ride.  Fun challenge!

DIVA Challenge #201 Moebius Syndrome Awareness

Every year at this time, Laura at I Am The Diva blog raises awareness of Moebius Syndrome, which her little guy has.  If you are new to these challenges, please take a moment to go to Laura's blog and read about it.  This will be my fourth year doing a tile for this challenge, and as always, I have added a little heart and Artoo's name.  It has a pleasure watching him grow over the years.  Hugs to Artoo

DIVA Challenge #200!!!

Laura Harms at I Am The Diva blog is celebrating her 200th Bi-Zen-Tennial challenge!  Yay Laura, congratulations on this milestone event!  For the challenge she asked us to use one of our favorite tangles as a monotangle and fill the whole tile with it.  Also, put 200 somewhere on the tile.  I still love Betweed as one of my all time favorites (it's in the top 5 anyway), so no problem with this challenge

As a side note, I am proud to say that I have completed each and every Diva challenge to date!  I wrote about it at this blog post back in 2013 and I am still adding to my book every week.  Thanks again, Laura for all that do for these challenges!  I have had a lot of fun with them.

DIVA Challenge #199 UMT: Hitched

The DIVA's weekly challenge is back after the holidays, and starting into her 4th year!  Since it is the first Monday of the month we have a UMT (use my tangle) challenge.  This tangle is Hitched by HeidiSue.  I found it to be a really easy tangle with lots of possibilities for variation.  It would make a good border too
